The photo series is focused on the difficulties inherent in multicultural relationships, drawing from personal experiences as an Estonian navigating the complexities of getting to know my Iraqi partner’s family. It explores the emotional landscape of entering a completely unfamiliar space as a new family member, where longing for connection is challenged by the differences in culture, religion, language and history.
